Hello, and welcome to the Sandvik Coromant Web Cast for CoroBore XL.

CoroBore XL is a new boring-tool system for large-diameter boring. New bridges and holders enable both fine and rough boring with precise results and optimal productivity. The system provides more rigid and reliable performance in larger bores, and is designed to generate the most repeatable and superior hole quality and diameter.

The system can be used with existing CoroBore 825 fine-boring heads—which are user-friendly and extremely precise. For productive roughing and semi-finishing, use the CoroBore XL system with CoroBore 820 XL cartridges.

This slide shows some application examples for using the CoroBore XL system in the wind power industry. As you can see, the system offers great versatility.

There are several options within the CoroBore XL line, designed to meet a variety of application needs.

The rigid bridges and interfaces between all assembly items provide the high stability that is one of the hallmarks of the CoroBore XL system. This rigidity offers excellent performance in roughing, semi-finishing and finishing operations.

Bridge extension covers increase the diameter range for diameters larger than 540 millimeters, maximizing the flexibility of the system and minimizing the need for additional tool investment.

The benefits of the CoroBore XL holders are widespread. The unique tool side interface was designed specifically to optimize large-diameter boring. The holders’ very large support area generates stability and allows for high torque. All CoroBore XL holders have internal coolant.

The CoroBore XL centering plug is the most stable holding solution, because it generates the shortest tool length and the largest face contact.

The backside of the flange on all CoroBore XL solid holders is designed for the most stable mounting of shims. The shims are ground individually to fit the specific machine and holder of each customer for ideal operation.

Customers have the option of using a stop plate to make diameter setting easier when using the same bridge for both roughing and finishing, or during repeated roughing of different diameters. This is especially convenient for shops without presetters.

For optimal coolant flow, customers need to make sure the open coolant hole on bridge sizes P, Q and R meets the coolant hole on the bridge extension.

The CoroBore 820 XL is a popular option, and enables precise and productive rough boring for a diameter range of 298 to 780 millimeters, and semi-finishing for a diameter range of 298 to 1260 millimeters.

The CoroBore 825 fine boring head bolts to the new slide extensions for the CoroBore XL system, as well as the existing CoroBore 825 slide extensions, for added accuracy in fine-boring operations.
