Sandvik Coromant is pleased to announce its participation in the 2012 HTEC Americas Network 6th Annual CNC Educators Training Conference on July 16 – 19 at the Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, N.Y. As a HTEC premier partner, Sandvik Coromant will also be hosting its dynamic “Bridging the Skills Gap” Smart Event program and “The CAM Challenge.”
The “Bridging the Skills Gap” program, presented by Aaron Petrosino, Applications Specialist at Sandvik Coromant, will take place during the Monday, July 16 workshops from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program combines resources for technical knowledge in the metal-cutting process with critical information regarding recent changes in skilled labor needs. The program will discuss the challenges facing the metal cutting industry, methods for building knowledge through training, and the positive impact that training has on the bottom line; as well as, how metalworking professionals can improve their skills and gain valuable knowledge.
Additionally, Sandvik Coromant and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT), along with Mastercam, will present “The CAM Challenge” model curriculum. The challenge is an industry education collaboration that is jointly being developed by the companies for technical schools, including an instructional curriculum. The curriculum is targeted towards current and aspiring CAM students and culminates in a visit to a Sandvik Coromant facility (or a supporting machine tool distributor) where the program will be machined for each participant.
